This project involved the completion of 7.5 miles of asphalt paving and asphalt milling, along with various infrastructure improvements.
Project DETAILS
- Wilber Road, the primary access route to the Bryon Mound SPR facility, remained fully operational throughout the project, as closures or detours were not feasible.
- The road accommodated significant traffic volumes, including personnel from the Department of Energy (DOE), contractors, local businesses, residents, and approximately 80 daily 18-wheeler trucks.
- Moore designed and implemented a detailed traffic control plan to ensure safe and efficient project execution while maintaining uninterrupted access to the public roadway.
- Specific tasks included drainage system enhancements, installation of reinforced concrete pipe, placement of base material to support roadway widening, demolition of existing steel cattle-guard structures, and installation of pre-cast concrete box culverts. Additional components included roadway striping, signage installation, guard rail installation, and seeding to stabilize surrounding areas.
- The project was completed on schedule and under budget through meticulous planning and effective communication.
